Why should you attend a Pink Elephant presentation course in Edinburgh?
Quite simply, to help bring the best parts of living and working in Scotland’s capital out.
The passion, the pride, the skills.
And quieten the other parts that hold us back.
In particular, the fiercest of all enemies: the voice inside our heads.
Let’s explore three reasons to jump in with both feet.
The trams, the building of Holyrood, the extension of Murrayfield and the rebuilding of the Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Since 1989, we’ve helped with communication connected to them all.
But when I say we know Edinburgh, I mean its people.
We understand that it’s hard blowing your own trumpet.
We’re taught from a young age to play things small and avoid coming across as arrogant.
So we tell “a wee story” and we “try and make sense” of things.
The problem is: that’s a big turn-off for the audience.
The good news is: there’s another way.
We call it our Language of Leadership.
And whether you work in renewable energy, government, life sciences or sport, there’s a middle ground between weakness and arrogance that the audience loves.
Using committed, strong phrases such as “I firmly believe” and “let’s talk about” lets the audience know you’re in control.
In a way that inspires them to work with you.
Imagine I asked 100 people on Princes Street: “How are you?”
I’d bet a sizeable number of them would respond:
“Not too bad.”
“Can’t complain.”
“Haven’t had a disaster yet.”
And those are the positive ones.
We struggle in Scotland to articulate ourselves positively when we feel good.
This is dangerous if it spills into our presentations.
Instead of telling people we’ll succeed, we tell them “we won’t fail”.
Instead of asking them to call us, we write “don’t hesitate to call”.
And instead of suggesting they join us, we ask “why not join?”
All of which inspires negativity, doubt, hesitation.
We call this a Pink Elephant. Because if I ask you not to think of a Pink Elephant, that’s exactly what you think about.
So instead, in Edinburgh, it’s possible to be positive and tell people what is the case.
We’ll succeed.
Call me.
Join us.
I’ll be visiting Murrayfield in a couple of weeks to see Scotland lift the Six Nations title*.
I’ll witness 60,000+ Scots sing their heart out to Flower of Scotland.
Bursting through the cold Edinburgh air with lungs full of passion.
And I suspect the players will feed off that and reflect the behaviour on the field.
So why do we struggle to comvey this passion when we stand up and give a business presentation?
Something inside us screams at us to curb our enthusiasm.
Instead, we’ll help you find your voice.
Bringing Murrayfield to your boardroom.
It’s simple: be more enthusiastic than you’ve ever been in your life.
We’ll tell you if it’s over the top (you’d be the first person in 34 years).
We know what it takes to success in Edinburgh in business, sport and government.
Call us today to help find your voice and speak with commitment and positivity every day.
